In this guide, you will learn how to manage tips in Timely, if you do not have a TimelyPay/T2P terminal. Tipping is a common practice in particular regions, such as the United States. However, at the moment if you do not have a TimelyPay/T2P terminal there is not a purpose-built solution for managing client tips. We do however, have a suggested workaround available using our products feature.
How to manage tips in Timely
We have a suggested work around for managing your tips in Timely, which is to create a product that can then be applied to invoices/sales and tracked via your reporting. There are three steps you need to complete in order to do this, with sub-steps nested in each of them. Follow these in order to ensure you are setting this workaround up correctly.
Important note: this will treat tips as sales income and will require you to manually calculate the tip amount (if based on a percentage), which we understand isn't best practice. However, this approach will allow you report on tips given to individual staff.
