Timely's improved calendar is ready for you to explore. We’ve made under-the-hood upgrades to the tech that powers our calendar and we've rolled out some small but important changes to the layout.
If you’re keen to switch over or just have a play around, this help guide will show you everything to look out for.

1. Turning on the new calendar
To turn on the new calendar click on the user menu in the top right of the Timely web app. Click the toggle at the bottom of the pop-up menu and you’ll be taken to the new calendar with all your bookings.
Clicking the toggle will only make this change to your account and other users in your business will not be impacted. Any changes you make in the new calendar will automatically update in the old calendar and vice versa.
If you need to go back to the old calendar simply click on the user menu and switch the toggle off. You can switch between calendars as many times as you like. All bookings and other data will automatically sync between the two.
2. Features of the new calendar
Automatically refresh
Know you’re always up to date with automatic refresh. You no longer need to manually refresh your page to see updates to appointments. Your calendar automatically updates when any changes are made through online booking, team members using the mobile app, or by someone in your team using the Timely web app.
With auto-refresh, you know you’re always operating with the best, most up-to-date schedule.
As simplified toolbar with more functionality
We’ve tidied up the calendar toolbar so it’s easier to perform key tasks throughout the day, like switching between staff, locations, and navigating to different dates.
We’ve also put a number of helpful options in the new ‘calendar settings’ menu, including editing staff rosters and printing the calendar. To see these, click the three dots in the top right of the calendar.
There are several keyboard shortcuts you can use to quickly perform tasks. For example, hide client names and prices by pressing the ‘H’ key on your keyboard.

Staff columns updated
Staff columns now show their profile picture alongside their name. We’ve also added a new drop-down to each column header that allows you to edit staff working hours, switch between day and week views, and edit staff profiles.
Jump to the right date easily
We’ve reduced the number of clicks needed in order to navigate to a particular date. We’ve also added more options to jump forward or backward by a number of weeks so it’s much easier to get where you need.
More information at a glance
We’ve made it easier to find what you’re looking for by tidying up all key appointment information. We’ve also added a shortcut so you can quickly add a booking note to an appointment. All the same options are there, we’ve just made it easier on the eyes.
Easily add parallel bookings and busy times
The new calendar booking leaves a space to the right, so you can click and add parallel bookings or notes.
Icons improved for accessibility
We’ve updated some of our icons to improve accessibility for vision impaired users. We’ve also added new icons to give you more information on bookings at a glance.

Why have you prioritised this work?
To keep our product up to date and performing at its best, we need to regularly upgrade our existing features. Our calendar supports over 70,000 users a day and these recent system upgrades will ensure you can schedule appointments and deliver incredible client experiences for years to come. We’re looking forward to collaborating with you on some new features now that this important work is rolling out.
Can I stay on the old calendar?
For now, yes you can. We know how jarring software changes can be, so we’re giving you plenty of time to familiarise yourself with the new calendar. You can switch between the old and new calendar by using the toggle at the bottom of the user menu at the top right of the Timely web app, and you may continue to do this for the next few months. Later this year we will be migrating all our customers over, but you’ll have ample notice of this change before it happens.
Why can't I book classes on the new calendar?
Classes are not supported in the new calendar currently. We recommend you to use the old calendar if you actively use this feature.
