In this guide you will learn how to issue a partial refund to your client, even if they have already paid in full. Should you want to issue a full refund to a fully paid invoice, see our help guide here.
1
Firstly, start by opening your
invoice. There are multiple ways to open an invoice, such as: via the appointment
itself, from your calendar, customer file, or sales tab.
3
Remove all items that are not being refunded.
You can also adjust the refund amount of each item on the invoice.
5
Remember the payment type, if you'd like
to refund them in the same way they paid. Otherwise, you will need to choose the
method of refund, such as: card, cash, or any other available payment types. If it
is a TimelyPay payment and you refund via TimelyPay, the refund will be issued automatically.
7 Now the
refund is complete, and you will see a green banner to show that the refund has been
paid in full.
Notes:
- It's worth noting that if you are refunding a product purchase, processing the refund will also update your stock levels.
- Unless the refund is processed through TimelyPay, it is not automatically refunded to the client. It is necessary to either go into your bank or physically provide a cash refund to your client.
- It is not possible to refund invoice items for gift vouchers or packages. If you need to do this, you can fill in this form - and we can help.
- If you have the Xero integration enabled, then you will need to apply a credit note to the associated invoice in Xero. You can open the invoice in Xero using the link in the top right corner of the invoice. Check out Xero's guide on adding a credit note to a sales invoice for more information.
