How to set up surcharges on your iPad for in-salon payments

Surcharging is becoming a more common business practice, including within the beauty industry. Surcharging means you are passing on the card processing fees from the business to your client. It is usually only a small additional amount, but can add up to significant savings for the business over time. This is why Timely has built a surcharge feature!

Important note: You will need the latest version of the Timely iOS app for this, so if you don’t have automatic updates turned on, head to the app store to make sure you have the latest version downloaded. Please also make sure to turn on your terminal and check it is connected to Timely.

Step-by-step instructions

1 Open the settings tab and click account settings.

2 Select TimelyPay from the left panel to open your TimelyPay settings.

3 Scroll down to the fees section where you will see the new surcharge fees setting. Select edit to expand the section.

4 Then click the pass fee through to clients option. When you are ready, click save to apply your changes.
