If you're a Timely customer in Singapore or South Africa, we need your indirect tax ID to help us stay compliant with local tax laws. In Singapore, this is your GST number and in South Africa, this is your VAT.
We didn’t collect this when you signed up — so we’re updating our records now.
If your business is registered for GST or VAT, you’ll see a prompt to enter your number the next time you log in to Timely on desktop.
This won’t change your current pricing, but not providing your tax ID could result in incorrect tax charges or billing issues later on.
Heads up: You’ll need to log in on desktop to enter your indirect tax ID. The Timely profile update form isn’t available in the mobile app.
How to update your Tax ID in Timely
1 Log in to Timely on desktop
2 You’ll see a pop-up asking you to add your business tax ID, click Enter GST/VAT number
3 On the Billing screen click Add tax ID. Enter your Timely account email address and GST (Singapore) or VAT (South Africa) number in the Tax ID field.
4 Save changes

Local tax authorities in Singapore and South Africa require us to collect this information to remain compliant. If you're registered for GST or VAT, we need your number to correctly classify your account and apply the right tax treatment.
What happens if I don’t provide my GST/VAT number?
If you don’t add your GST or VAT number, we may have to treat your account as non-registered — even if you are registered. That could mean the wrong tax gets applied, or we have to adjust your billing setup.
What is an indirect tax ID vs. income tax ID?
Your indirect tax ID is your VAT, GST or sales tax ID.
Your direct tax ID is your income tax ID.
Will this change how much I pay?
Not right now. But, submitting your tax ID helps us ensure your pricing remains accurate and compliant under local tax laws.
What if I’m not registered for GST or VAT?
No. If you’re not registered, you don’t need to fill in the field. We’ll treat your account as a non-registered business.
Can I update it from my phone or the Timely app?
No. You’ll need to log in on a desktop computer to update your tax information.
