In this guide you will learn how to connect an existing account to Shopify, or when you are without an existing account. For information on troubleshooting, adding widgets, and product management please see the links attached.
Important note: the Shopify integration with Timely was sunset from the 1st of April, 2025. This means that all customers using this integration will no longer have data syncing between the two platforms..
How to connect Shopify to your Timely account
1 To connect Timely with Shopify, head to the setup menu, and click add ons.
2 From the add ons page, scroll down to Shopify and click activate.
3 You’ll be taken to a landing page with information regarding the integration.
4 Now you can click setup Shopify.
5 Select if you already have a Shopify account, if not you will need to start a trial.
6 Once you have a Shopify account, you can install the app; and then click add app.
7 Next log in to the Shopify account that you would like to connect with.
8 You will next confirm you are happy to install the Timely interaction app.
9 Now log back in to your Timely account to confirm the connection.
10 You’re now on the match locations step, to ensure the right locations are connected.
11 Now you can click save and apply your changes.
Important note: you will see a message that will alert you to the app price being $350, however as a Timely customer you will not be charged this.
You are always able to come back to this page under setup > add ons > Shopify. This is where you will find the Shopify dashboard, where you can find more information regarding the integration; such as the status of the integration, what has been connected, what has been synced, what hasn't been synced. In addition, if there are errors, it will show what those errors are.
How to connect to Shopify without an existing Shopify account
1 To connect Timely with Shopify, head to the setup menu, and click add ons.2 From within the Add ons page, scroll down to Shopify and click activate.
3 You'll be taken to a landing page with some information on the integration. Click setup Shopify.
4 You'll now be on the screen asking if you have a Shopify account or not.
5 Click I'm new to Shopify, and then create account.
6 This will then redirect you to Shopify where you can fill in your details to start a Shopify account.
