If you have decided it is time for you to move on from your business and transition ownership to a new individual, you are able to do this seamlessly. In this guide, you will see a checklist for handing over your Timely account to a new owner.
Timely note: it is the responsibility of the original account owner to make sure that their Timely account is transferred over to the new owner. This includes all relevant information and access included as part of the business sale. While we are here to point you in the right direction, Timely is not responsible for account transfers.
How to update your business details
If the name or any other business details are changing, update these under the business details area within your Timely account. If the same details will be used for billing, check the update my Timely billing details with these settings box before you hit save.
How to update your billing details
When you are in the billing details section of your Timely account, you will need to:
- Click update credit card details to change the information used for your Timely subscription
- Update the billing name and email address for the account by using the updae billing details button
- If you are an Australian business, you may also need to update your GST registration details
- To do this, click change next to the GST settings to update the number
How to remove yourself as a staff member
If you've got yourself set up as a staff member, make sure you re-assign all the appointments and delete the staff member from Timely. Our How to archive a staff member and How to delete a staff member guides walk you through that process.
How to change the notification settings
You may have notifications set up which will need to be changed. You can do this in the staff notifications area of your Timely account, allowing you to adjust the email address notifications for online bookings.
How to disconnect any app integrations
For add-ons such as Xero, Vend, Google calendar, MailChimp, etc. that are not being handed over with the Timely account, make sure to disconnect them. You can do this by:
How to update the account holder email address
When you update the account holder email then you will automatically be logged out of the account so make sure this is the final step. The same password will carry over, so we recommend updating the password to something generic and passing this on to the new owner. You can change your password under the change password area of your Timely account. To do this, follow our help guide How to manage your business details.
How to handover your TimelyPay account
When you hand over your Timely account with activated TimelyPay, a new owner can continue using TimelyPay if the following has been done:
You had deactivated your TimelyPay account, and the new owner has signed up with TimelyPay using a new email address, a new mobile number, and provided their business documentation with their name.
If the new business owner takes over the existing email address and the mobile number as part of the sale, we recommend you to change your email and mobile number to personal ones prior to deactivating TimelyPay.
Please be aware that Stripe prevents changing both email and phone within one month, so you may have to reach out to Stripe support in order to proceed with the change.
