A cash drawer can also be connected to your the Star TSP100/TSP113/TSP143 printer.
You can then ask the printer to open the cash drawer, whenever a receipt is printed.
Setting up the cash drawer on a PC
- Connect the connector cable (the one that looks similar to a phone line) from the cash drawer into the receipt printer.
- Connect the printer to the computer.
- Open the Control Panel and select Devices and Printers.
- Right click the Star TSP100/TSP113/TSP143 printer (depending on which you have) and select Properties.
- Click the Device Settings tab.
- Under Peripheral Unit Type, select Cash Drawer from the list:
- Under Peripheral Unit 1, select Document Top from the list:
- Click OK to complete the process.
Setting up the cash drawer on an Apple (Mac) computer
- Connect the connector cable (the one that looks similar to a phone line) from the cash drawer into the receipt printer.
- Connect the printer to the computer.
- Open Safari and go to this URL: http://localhost:631/printers/*
This will take you to CUPS. CUPS is a network printing service used by Mac computers. It allows you to setup your printers on a network, and customise options such as cash drawer setup. (If you get a message saying "Web Interface is Disabled" or a "Server can't be reached" then you'll need to enable the CUPS web interface.Getting a "server can't be reached" message? - Select the Star TSP100/TSP113/TSP143 printer (depending on which model you have):
- Click Set default options from the list:
- Click Cash Drawer Control from the options:
- Choose Open Drawer 1 from the list:
- Click the Set default options button to complete the process.
