How to import your customer CSV file into your Timely account

If you are moving from another system or already have a list of your clients, you can import them directly into Timely. This saves you time entering each client manually, letting you focus on doing what you love. In this article, you will learn how to import your customer CSV file into your Timely account. Before proceeding, make sure you have followed our help guide How to download and complete the customer import template. 

 

 

How to import your customer CSV file into your Timely account

 

1 Inside your Timely account, you are able to import your customers, to do this - head to the customers tab and you'll see an import customers button. Click on this button, and you will see a pop up appear.

 

Timely notes: 

  • You can upload the file to be tested, or you can upload the file for a full import. When you upload a file for a full import, select the CSV file that you have just created and you will see a banner that states customer data is importing.
     
  • To ensure your data imports correctly, we use a specific CSV (comma-separated values) template; which can be downloaded here. 
     
  • If you are not sure how to export your client data from your current system, no problem - submit a Help Form via our help centre and one of our friendly team will guide you through it.

 

2 If you decide you would like to test your CSV to ensure you have formatted all your client information correctly, you can click the button labeled upload file for test. If you wish to bypass this and complete your import, select the button labeled upload the file for import.

 

Timely note: If you are coming from another system entirely, and you are not sure how to export your client data, that is no problem - submit a help form via our help centre and one of our friendly team will guide you through it. 

 

3 Let's assume you've decided to upload the file for import, you can now close this banner and when you refresh your screen you will see your client data change as it is imported into your account. You will also receive an email when this process has been completed.
