With Tap to Pay on iPhone in the Timely iOS app, you can accept contactless payments in-salon using just your iPhone XS or newer — no extra hardware or terminals needed! Important note: Tap to Pay on iPhone is currently available in Australia, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland, the UK, and the US.
Timely note: you can accept payments from physical debit and credit cards, Apple & Google Pay, and other digital wallets. These payments all go directly through the Timely app, this means the transaction fees are the same as using a TimelyPay terminal. You can see information about specific rates for your region, in our web page here.
I can’t see Tap to Pay as an available payment option
Make sure the following are all true:
You’re in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, or the US — Tap to Pay is only available in these regions.
You’re using an iPhone XS or newer (not available on iPad or Android).
Your Timely iOS app is up to date.
Your iOS version is 16.7 or newer.
You’ve enabled TimelyPay – if not, follow this setup guide.
Clicking activate Tap to Pay on iPhone doesn’t work
This often means your business location address is incomplete. To fix it:
Open the Timely app in your browser.
Go to locations.

Ensure your physical or billing address includes:
Address
City
State/Region
Postal Code
Save your changes. Then return to the iOS app and tap activate Tap to Pay on iPhone again.
Timely tip: if you're worried about the address being shown online, you can remove the address after activation.
I’m a mobile operator and don’t want to provide an address
You only need to provide an address for initial activation. Once Tap to Pay is set up, go to your location settings and switch the location type to mobile, which does not require an address.
I’m getting a location services error at checkout
If you see this message: "access to location services is currently disabled. Location access is required to connect to a reader and create payments." This means location services are turned off. To fix this:
Go to your iPhone's settings > privacy > location services.
Find the Timely app.
Set location access to while using the App or always.
