Introduction: Third-part payment gateways

Taking deposits or full payment for online bookings is a great way to reduce no-shows for appointments, and ensures you are able to pay your staff regardless if an individual arrives for their service. It is also more likely to encourage retail product purchases on the day of their appointment, earning your business more money! 

To accept online payments for bookings or invoices you need to have a payment gateway configured for your Timely account. In this article you will learn an introduction to third-party payment gateways supported on Timely.
 

 

Important note: this feature is only available to businesses on our Elevate and Innovate plans. Should you wish to upgrade your plan, you can find more information in our help guide How to change your Timely plan. Please be aware you are only able to use one payment gateway at a time.

 

 

Introduction: Third-party payment gateways

TimelyPay

1 Head to setup from the main menu in your Timely account dashboard, then to TimelyPay.

 

2 Click the set up TimelyPay button and follow the on-screen instructions. Once you have done this, you will be redirected back to the TimelyPay page.

 

3 Now you can set your default online booking payment terms if you haven't enabled them during setup, add custom text to the payment screen, and toggle requiring your clients' billing address to on, on the payment screen if you would like to.

 

Timely notes: 

  • After your proof of identity and address documents are verified, you can start taking payments online from your clients. Once you have online payments coming through, your payouts will be deposited directly to your business' bank account every Monday. If daily or monthly payouts suit you better than weekly, you can change your payout schedule at any time.   • TimelyPay is currently only available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and United Kingdom. 

 

 

Authorize.Net

You will need two pieces of information to connect to the Authorize.Net gateway. These are an API Login ID and a Transaction Key. To retrieve these details follow the steps below. Timely does not pass on customer address information to Authorize.net when customers book and pay online. You will need to disable your Address Verification Services (AVS) settings in Authorize.net to prevent any issues. 

 

1 To start, log into the merchant interface at https://account.authorise.net/.

 

2 Click account from the main toolbar and select settings from the options. Then choose address verification service in the security settings section, and uncheck all boxes next to the relevant AVS codes.

 

3 When you are ready, click submit to apply your changes.

eWay

You need to enter your eWay Customer ID to connect to the eWay gateway. You would have received your ID by email when you signed up to eWAY. It can also be on your eWAY invoice as 'Account Number'. If you still can’t find it, you will need to contact eWay support here. Our integration with eWay is only supported for customers in the Asia Pacific region and we do not support eWay Rapid.

 

 

Windcave (formerly Payment Express)

Timely does not support the PxPay payment solution. This includes payments using 3Dsecure. 

You will need to enter your PxPostUsername and PxPostPassword to connect to the Windcave gateway. These details will have been supplied to you by Windcave and will relate to the use of the PxPost Payment Solution. If you are not sure what details you need to use please contact Windcave to confirm your details here.

PayPal

You can connect your PayPal Business or PayPal Premier account to Timely. There are a number of settings that need to be in place in your PayPal account, to make sure that payments are successfully received in Timely. 

Before you get started, you will need to sign up here for a business account (currently called PayPal Payments Standard). Once you have done this, you can connect your PayPal account to Timely, set your online payment policies in Timely, and update your PayPal settings. Pin Payments

You need to provide the live secret API key for your Pin Payments account. You can find this key on your Pin Payments account settings page. You will have two types of API keys in your account so make sure to use the secret one as this is the key needed to create payments.

Stripe

1 To connect to your Stripe account, click the set up Stripe button and follow the on-screen prompts.

 

2 Login to your stripe account with your Stripe username and password.

 

3 Once you are logged in, authorise a connection between your Stripe and Timely accounts. You will then be redirected back to the Timely setup page.
