Do your clients sometimes forget to bring their credit card? Or do they want to put down a deposit over the phone? With Timely, you can send them an invoice to their email. It will have your bank details, so your client can easily pay straight into your account! In this guide, you will learn two ways to request an online payment for an invoice via the Timely iOS app.
Important note: this is available to Timely customers on the Build plan, if they are using TimelyPay. Otherwise, it is only available to Elevate and Innovate customers. For more information on viewing your current plan, see our help guide How to view your Timely plan. If you need to upgrade, see How to change your Timely plan for steps on how to do this.
Timely note: before you start, you will need to have a payment gateway connected before you can request online payment for an invoice. On the desktop version head to setup > integrations (formerly add-ons) to connect a payment gateway to your account. See our help guide How to set up your payment gateway guide for more information.

How does my client pay their invoice?
Timely will send the customer an email with a copy of their invoice and a link to make an online payment, or if you prefer; copy the link and paste it into your own email and send it to the customer manually.
Once the customer receives the email, they click the view or pay your invoice online link included in the email. From here they are redirected to the chosen payment gateway to make the payment (now including Apple/Google Pay), they enter their details and click pay now to complete the process. Once successful, the payment is automatically applied to the invoice in Timely. Easy!
