One day you may find yourself looking to donate a Gift Voucher or as a Credit to one of your customers. It's important to record these correctly, so you don't find mistakes in your reporting later. This article has all the steps you need - to make donating Gift Vouchers and/or Credits a seamless experience!
Step-by-step instructions
1 Create a customer payment type and name it something like: "Donations". You can learn how to create a custom payment type in this article, or in the video below.
2 Once you have created your Custom Payment Type, it is important to create your business name as a customer. This way you can allocate the sale to your business; and will have a singular place where your Gift Vouchers and payments are stored.
Handy Hint
If you are donating a Gift Voucher, make sure your Business Name is in the “from” field and the receiver who you’re donating to, is in the “to” field.
3 Now you're ready to checkout! When selecting payment type you'll use the Custom Payment Type you've created to complete the transaction. Then when you run your end of day reporting or your cash-up in Timely, you can simply deduct any donations from the total amounts for the day.
