How to void gift vouchers

Gift vouchers are a great way for your clients to introduce your business to their family and friends. With Timely, gift vouchers can be bought online, sent by email, or printed out and given in person. You have control over the gift voucher process, from creation to redemption. So you can decide if they can be purchased online, voided, or if they expire. You can also determine gift voucher terms and conditions, allowing you to customise what information is included on the printed voucher. 

You can update the expiry date of a gift voucher that has already been sold to a client, all you need is the voucher number or the client's name to make changes. If you do not wish to change the expiry of a gift card, you can instead choose to void it. In this article, you will learn how to void gift vouchers. How to set up the ability to void a gift voucher

To void or delete a gift voucher, you will need to make sure that it is set up to be able to do so. To do this:

 

1 Head to setup from the main menu in your Timely account dashboard, and choose gift vouchers from the drop down list.

 

2 Click edit next to the voucher type you would like to update. Then scroll down to the gift voucher terms section.

 

3 Now you can check the box next to allow gift vouchers to be voided. When you are ready, click save to apply your changes.

 

 

How to void a gift voucher

Now that you have completed the steps above to be able to void a gift voucher, now you are ready to do so:

 

1 Head to setup from the main menu in your Timely account dashboard, and choose gift vouchers from the drop down list.

 

2 Search for the voucher based on the code or name. Once you have found the voucher, click on the voucher code to open the gift voucher details.

 

3 Click the void voucher button, then delete when prompted to confirm.

 

Timely notes:

  • If the gift voucher is unpaid then you will need to click save and pay on the voucher before you can void the voucher. When the voucher is voided, both the voucher and the associated invoice will be removed.
     
  • If the gift voucher has already been redeemed, or the original sale of the invoice has been included in a past cash up, then the voucher and associated invoice can't be deleted.
