How to create promotion codes (promo)

Promotions (often referred to as promo codes) are a great way to encourage bookings, from both new and existing client's. They support your business in generating revenue, and are a way to celebrate birthdays, recognise loyalty, and market service offerings. In this guide, you will learn how to create promo codes and understand the requirements in order to use this feature. Timely note: applying a promotion code is only possible from the Timely desktop (web) application by clients when booking online or by staff from the calendar or at checkout. Promo codes are not able to be applied in iOS yet, but existing promotional codes applied in the web application to a booking may be checked out from the iOS application.

 

 

How to create promotion codes

Step-by-step instructions

1 Head to setup from the main menu in your Timely account dashboard, and then to promo codes from the list of dropdown options.

 

2 Click the add new promo code button in the top right corner. Then add a unique promo code (this is the code your clients will use online to redeem a promo code).

 

3 Select a discount type, the options available are either percentage or fixed amount. For more information, see our help guide How to set up discounts.

 

4 Then add the discount amount as a percentage or fixed amount that the price will be reduced by.

 

5 Next add the tax rate (this setting should match the setting used on your services).

 

6 Then you can add usage rules and applies to settings for your promo code. For more information, see our help guide How to create promotion code rules.

 

7 Lastly, add active dates rules for your promo code. Please note that Promo Codes take a day to activate so they need to be created at least a day in advance.

 

8 When you are ready, click save to complete the process and create the promotion code.
