Adding services is one of the most important things to do to set up your Timely account. Having an organised service menu helps your clients and your team have a seamless booking experience. Once they're set up, clients can either book these online, or your staff can book them in-salon easily.
Step-by-step instructions
Click Setup and select Services.
Click the category you want the service to be in then Add service.
Name the service. And if you like, you can add a description. Clients who book online will see the description. So, this is a great opportunity to sell the benefits of the service.
Set the price of the service. You can customise the price for different levels of experience of your staff. By clicking the Fixed price drop down menu, you can also decide if the price is visible to clients online, only appears on the calendar, never visible, or if the service is free.
Set the duration of the service. By default, it's set to thirty minutes, but this can be adjusted.
If the service needs processing times, or padding you can select this here. You can also find out more about how this works in this guide.
If you need to charge a sales tax (like GST or VAT) for this service, select the type of tax and check the box.
You can make the each service it's own colour, so you can easily see it in your calendar. To do this, click the circle and choose a colour from the wheel.
Customise which staff member can perform the service by checking the box next to their name.
If the service needs a resource, like a room or specialised equipment, select that resource here.
It's optional if you want clients to be able to book online. Your options are that all existing and new clients can book the service and be added to your waitlist. Or make it only available to VIP clients or uncheck every box so it can't be booked online at all.
It's optional whether you want to add a booking question and make it mandatory before the appointment is booked. You can customise if it must be answered when booking online, booked by a staff member through the calendar, or neither.
If you're taking online bookings, choose your payment policy. The options are to use your default policy or set a different policy for just this service.
Click save and you're done! This service is now ready to be booked.
