With Tap to Pay on Android, you can accept in-salon contactless payments right on your phone or tablet – with no extra terminals or hardware needed. It's easy, secure, and private. All you need is an active TimelyPay account and your Android phone or tablet with NFC. In this article, you will learn how to set up Tap to Pay on your Android device.
Tap to Pay lets you accept payments from physical debit and credit cards, other digital wallets or devices such as a smartwatch directly through the Timely app. The transaction fees are the same as for the terminals, you can see the current rates for your region here.
Pre-setup checklist
Before setting up Tap to Pay on your phone or tablet, please make sure:
- You have downloaded the Timely Android app from Google Play
- Your Timely app is up to date, see the help guide How to check for updates on your Android device
- Your phone software must be up to date, see the help guide how to make sure your device is up to date
- Your phone must also have NFC capability and be switched on; see the help guide How to turn on NFC
- You must also have enabled TimelyPay if you haven’t turned this on yet
How to set up Tap to Pay on your Android device
Step-by-step instructions
1 In your Timely Android App, click on the hamburger icon, then setup.
2 Now, tap on your business in the menu list and select TimelyPay
3 Click on the add card reader button.
4 In the pop up screen, select Tap to Pay from the drop down, as your card reader type.
5 Then name your Tap to Pay device in the Name Reader section.
6 Finally, select the location that you want to use your device as your Tap to Pay card reader.
7 It is important to allow any Android specific privileges that the Timely app will require.
8 To confirm that Tap to Pay on your device is successful, you will seen a banner notifying you.
